Soil! I live with a soil person. He talks about it probably as much as I talk about quilts and fabric. Which is a lot!
To give him his due, the impact of him making sure the soil in our garden was in tip top condition was amazing. However the pungent aroma of the compost bin on a warm day, if you are down wind, is not so pleasant..
And so, it was in one of his soily monologues that he showed me Actinomycetes. Micro organisms that support the soils health. Their shape really caught my attention. And continuing the ecological theme I decided this should be the focus of my next mini fabric collection. Mother Nature really does give the best gifts!
With Actinomycetes I wanted to change up the colour palette and produce something more vibrant. I used navy and fushia water based inks on Kona cotton solids in Butter, School Bus, Bright Pink, Silver and Peacock.
Actinomycetes is available in my Etsy shop now. Print run continues until 31st July.
Until next time..
