There was definitely a ‘happy dance’ moment in my house when I recieved the email from Pat Bravo informing me I was selected for the #MinisBlogTour. I am delighted to be taking part along with another twenty nine fabulous makers.
For the full tour schedule of fabulous mini’s check out Pat Bravo’s Blog HERE.
The inspiration for my mini came from the image below by the Amerian Op artist Edna Andrade. Her work is amazing!
I cut out the basic shapes and strip pieced before cutting out the triangles. In my usual fashion, I made it up as I went along after that. I had an idea what I wanted it to look like… I added pink to the border to pull out the centre hexi and matchstick quilted the background to push it back.
I wanted to take decent photos of my mini and I have always felt the best photos of quilts are taken outside. However living in Scotland the weather is unpredictable and does not often allow it.
On the day I had set aside to take photos of my mini it was misty and wet. However the Botanic Gardens is right on my doorstep and I thought it might be fun to have a photoshoot of my mini in the glasshouses. It was fun!
Assisted by child no. 2 we sneaked around the glasshouses taking gorilla shots of my mini in the wild.
We had the desert scene:The rainforest scene:And the Palm House scene:Just as we were leaving the sun came out and and the Daisy’s were glistening on the grass. Perfect for setting off the speckled background in the quilt. I got my outdoor shot after all! I didn’t use all the fabric and am giving the rest of the bundle away over on Instagram. All you need to do to win is follow my IG Account and comment on my mini post telling me which photo scene you like the best. Desert, Rainforest, Palm or Daisy. The winner will be chosen at random on Tuesday 10th May.
Until next time..
